The Carolina Panthers are showing signs of improvement as they prepare to face the Kansas City Chiefs this week. Head coach Dave Canales confirmed that rookie running back Jonathon Brooks is expected to make his debut after recovering from an ACL tear sustained last November. "I fully expect JB to make his debut this week against the Chiefs," Canales stated.

Brooks, a Texas product and the first running back drafted in the spring, has been patient during his recovery process. He was held out of the Week 10 game against the New York Giants despite being activated earlier. Reflecting on his journey, Brooks said, "I feel a lot stronger throughout the rehab... I feel a whole lot better."

Canales mentioned there would be no strict limit on Brooks' playtime: "We'll have a game plan... but we're not really looking for a specific number." The presence of Chuba Hubbard, who has had significant rushing attempts this season, plays into this decision.

Veteran wide receiver Adam Thielen is also aiming to return after being sidelined since Week 3 with a hamstring injury. Thielen expressed cautious optimism about playing against the Chiefs: "But still have to gain some ground to feel really good about playing on Sunday."

Running back Miles Sanders will likely miss the upcoming game due to an ankle injury sustained against the Giants in Germany. Canales remarked that they are gathering more information before making any decisions regarding Sanders' return.

On another front, left tackle Ikem Ekwonu is set to return from an ankle injury suffered in Week 8. Brady Christensen filled in at left tackle during Ekwonu's absence and previously played center before Cade Mays took over. The coaching staff faces decisions on positioning these players moving forward.

Reflecting on recent performances, Thielen noted improvements within the team: "I think just the confidence of the group... I can play at a high level." He praised rookies Xavier Legette and Jalen Coker for their contributions during his time off-field.

In Germany, Hubbard delivered an impressive performance with 153 rushing yards and a touchdown, placing him fourth in league rushing yards. Ekwonu acknowledged their consistent ground game efforts: "They've been running the ball really well."
