The Charlotte Hornets have reported that forward Grant Williams has suffered a potential anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear in his right knee. This diagnosis follows an MRI conducted after Williams was injured during the fourth quarter of a game against Milwaukee. The team has stated that further evaluation will be conducted, and Williams is currently listed as out indefinitely. Updates on his condition will be provided when available.
Williams has played in 16 games this season, starting seven of them. He is averaging 10.3 points, 5.1 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.1 steals per game over an average of 29.9 minutes on the court. Originally from Charlotte, Williams joined the Hornets through a trade with the Dallas Mavericks on February 8th. Over his six NBA seasons, he has averaged 7.2 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 1.5 assists in 380 games, including 108 starts. He was initially drafted by the Boston Celtics as the 22nd overall pick in the first round of the 2019 NBA Draft.
