The Charlotte Hornets have confirmed that forward Grant Williams has undergone surgery to address a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and torn medial and lateral meniscus in his right knee. The procedure was conducted by Dr. Brian Cole in Chicago. The team will provide updates on Williams' recovery as they become available.
Williams, who joined the Hornets after a trade with the Dallas Mavericks on February 8, has played in 16 games this season, starting seven of them. He has averaged 10.3 points, 5.1 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.1 steals over an average of 29.9 minutes per game this season.
Originally from Charlotte, Williams has career averages of 7.2 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 1.5 assists across six NBA seasons with a total of 380 appearances, including 108 starts. He was drafted in the first round as the 22nd overall pick by the Boston Celtics in the 2019 NBA Draft.
