The Charlotte Hornets faced a disappointing defeat against the Washington Wizards on Thursday night, losing 113-110. This marks their sixth consecutive loss and 14th in the last 15 games.

LaMelo Ball stood out for the Hornets with 31 points, six rebounds, and six assists. Miles Bridges contributed 22 points and a season-high of 14 rebounds, while Mark Williams matched his season-best with 16 points and set a career-high with five assists.

For the Wizards, Jordan Poole scored 25 points despite shooting inefficiencies, while Bilal Coulibaly added another 20. Rookie Alex Sarr impressed with three successful three-pointers for the third game in a row.

The game took a crucial turn when Charlotte's defense faltered in the second quarter, allowing Washington to lead by halftime. Despite staging a comeback to lead late in the game, Charlotte missed key opportunities that allowed Washington to regain control. A decisive three-pointer from Poole sealed the win for Washington.

The Hornets showed improvement from beyond the arc by making 17-of-42 attempts after struggling in previous games. However, they struggled with fouls early on, giving away twice as many free throws as they received.

Washington's bench players significantly outscored Charlotte’s reserves. Jonas Valančiūnas, Corey Kispert, and Malcolm Brogdon all reached double figures for Washington off the bench.

Hornets Head Coach Charles Lee commented on their performance: “To me, it’s like a tale of two halves... We’re going through a little bit of adversity right now.”

Charlotte will face Oklahoma City Thunder next at home on Saturday evening.
