The Carolina Panthers are set to conclude their season with a game against the Atlanta Falcons this weekend. While the Panthers focus on future strategies, the Falcons are eyeing the NFC South title, still contending with the Buccaneers.

Significant changes have occurred since these teams last met in October, when the Panthers lost 38-20. Since then, the Panthers have recorded a 3-7 performance, while the Falcons have gone 4-6 and switched quarterbacks. The Falcons now feature rookie Michael Penix Jr., who replaced Kirk Cousins following a victory over the Raiders.

Penix has started two games, resulting in one win and one loss—the latter being an overtime match against Washington Commanders. He has completed 37 of 62 passes for 425 yards, with one touchdown and two interceptions. His style remains under observation as he integrates into the team's offense.

Cornerback Mike Jackson commented on Penix's gameplay: "I watched the game last night and just on TV, kind of seems like they still run the core plays," he said. Jackson noted that facing a left-handed quarterback like Penix requires adjustments: "It's just going to be kind of different cause I've never played a left-handed quarterback."

The Falcons maintain consistency with running back Bijan Robinson, who ranks fourth in league rushing yards with 1,286 yards and has scored 12 touchdowns this season. Robinson is also known for his receiving capabilities, accumulating 59 receptions for 428 yards and an additional touchdown.

On defense, linebacker Kaden Elliss leads with notable performances including eight tackles for loss and five sacks. Safety Jessie Bates III contributes significantly with his tackling efforts.

Kicker Younghoe Koo is currently on injured reserve; Riley Patterson has taken over kicking duties for Atlanta. Patterson has made a long field goal of 52 yards during his time with the team.
