The Charlotte Hornets faced a challenging match against the Detroit Pistons, resulting in a 98-94 defeat. This marks the ninth consecutive loss for the Hornets and their fifth straight loss on the road. The game was tightly contested, as anticipated, given that Charlotte's previous two victories over Detroit were decided by just three points combined.
Miles Bridges led Charlotte with a commendable performance, scoring 20 points, securing nine rebounds, and providing five assists. Bridges has been consistent in his recent games, averaging 23.2 points over the last five matches. With LaMelo Ball and Brandon Miller absent due to injuries, Bridges took on a crucial role in the game.
Charlotte had a strong start, leading 65-52 at halftime with significant contributions from Mark Williams and Bridges. However, the Pistons increased their defensive efforts in the third quarter, altering the game's dynamics. They limited Charlotte to 33.3 percent shooting and forced multiple turnovers while dominating rebounds and second-chance points.
Mark Williams also made an impact with 18 points and nine rebounds. Nick Richards contributed ten points and four rebounds for Charlotte.
Hornets Head Coach Charles Lee praised Miles Bridges: “I just love the competitiveness from him - that never-quit mentality that he has... he’s always thinking about how can I impact the game and impact winning."
The Hornets will play next against Cleveland on Sunday before returning home for Pride Night on January 7.
