The Charlotte Hornets ended their 10-game losing streak with a decisive victory over the Phoenix Suns on Tuesday at Spectrum Center. Head Coach Charles Lee emphasized defense in transition and playing with more pace as key strategies before the game, which the team executed effectively.

Charlotte outperformed Phoenix on fast breaks, scoring 26-4 in that category, leading to a 115-104 win. LaMelo Ball was instrumental for the Hornets, contributing 32 points, marking his fifth consecutive game with over 20 points and his 12th straight game with multiple three-pointers. His performance included five three-pointers, tying him with Miles Bridges for the fifth most in Charlotte's history. Ball also recorded 10 rebounds, seven assists, and four steals.

Miles Bridges supported Ball's efforts with 21 points and took on a challenging defensive role against Kevin Durant. After the game, Bridges expressed gratitude towards the fans: “Our fans have been showing up for us this whole year, despite the losses. Shoutout to Buzz City.”

The turning point came when Charlotte trailed by seven points in the second quarter but then went on a 26-6 run to close the half. This shift was driven by improved shooting accuracy and strong defensive play.

Nick Richards and Nick Smith Jr. provided significant contributions from the bench. Richards scored 15 points and secured a double-double with 12 rebounds. Smith Jr. added eight points along with four rebounds and three assists.

Statistically, Charlotte dominated several areas of play including setting season highs in free throws made (26) and rebounds (59). The Hornets' second-quarter performance marked their best differential of any quarter this season.

Coach Charles Lee praised his team's perseverance: “Really happy for the guys... We truly have a group – from the players to the staff, front office, literally everyone – that is obsessed with daily improvement.”

Looking ahead, Charlotte will begin a five-game road trip starting Thursday against the Los Angeles Lakers.

Fans can look forward to an MLK Jr. Day Matinee against Dallas Mavericks at Spectrum Center where early attendees will receive a Brandon Miller Bobblehead.
