Hornets Sports & Entertainment (HSE) has announced a comprehensive schedule for the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day celebration at the Hive on January 20. The event will feature a Noon game against the Dallas Mavericks, a Brandon Miller bobblehead giveaway, and a free postgame concert. Doors open at 11 a.m., with tickets available online or via phone.
The first 5,000 attendees will receive a Brandon Miller bobblehead. Saxophonist Mike Phillips will perform the National Anthem, joined by DJ D-Nice for halftime entertainment. After the game, Travis Greene and Forward City will perform in concert.
Local Black-owned businesses will showcase their products around the arena, including POP-Maize-N popcorn and Beyond Amazing Donuts. BLACC Bottle water bottles will be available in the Hornets Fan Shop.
HSE and Harris Teeter volunteers plan an MLK Day of Service event on January 16 at Classroom Central to assemble school supply kits for YMCA students.
Following the Mavericks game, ten of the next eleven games are at Spectrum Center. The homestand includes matches against prominent teams like the Los Angeles Lakers and Milwaukee Bucks. Theme nights include HBCU Night on February 1 and Buzz City Appreciation Week in April.
