Today, Senator Thom Tillis issued a statement regarding his new position as Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Intellectual Property for the 119th Congress. In his statement, Senator Tillis expressed enthusiasm about taking over from Senator Coons and highlighted his commitment to strengthening intellectual property (IP) rights.

Senator Tillis outlined several key areas he plans to focus on during his tenure. These include reforming patent eligibility through the Patent Eligibility Restoration Act, addressing issues within the Patent Trial and Appeal Board, and ensuring that both the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and the U.S. Copyright Office fulfill their missions effectively. He also emphasized the importance of combating online piracy through legislative and enforcement measures.

Furthermore, Senator Tillis noted the significance of monitoring artificial intelligence's impact on intellectual property. He stated that "strong, reliable, and predictable IP rights drive investments to innovative technologies and encourage the creation of content that employs vast numbers of U.S. citizens."

He concluded by affirming his dedication to maintaining America's position as a global leader in innovation: "I will continue to champion and push to ensure that the U.S. does not fall behind and that the U.S. remains the global innovation leader."
