Dave Canales, Dan Morgan, and Brandt Willis have formed a strong working relationship through frequent communication. "Very boring, it's Dan, Brandt, and Dave," Canales commented on their group chat's name. He noted that their conversations are constant and cover various topics to ensure alignment.
Canales highlighted the importance of their collaboration in feeling prepared for the NFL Combine in Indianapolis. "As I've been around the players, then we can kind of continue that alignment in those conversations," he said.
Dan Morgan provided updates on several players' injuries. Wide receiver Xavier Legette had surgery on his foot but not on his wrist, which will heal during the offseason. "I think it's more of a short term; in terms of recovery," Morgan stated regarding Legette's return.
Running back Jonathon Brooks is recovering from an ACL tear without a set timeline for his return. "Definitely disappointed for him," Morgan remarked. Linebacker Trevin Wallace underwent shoulder surgery and is now rehabbing.
Morgan discussed free agency plans for several Panthers players, including kicker Eddy Piñeiro and tight end Tommy Tremble. "Definitely not going to close the door on (Eddy)," Morgan said while expressing interest in retaining Tremble despite allowing him to test the market.
Punter Johnny Hekker is another player whose future with the team remains undecided. The offensive line's performance was a highlight last season, with Austin Corbett and Cade Mays becoming free agents soon. "Yeah, we're talking to the agents," Morgan confirmed about potential returns.
Quarterback Andy Dalton signed a new contract with the Panthers after backing up Bryce Young last year. His experience and relationship with Young were key factors in his return. "The chemistry is great in the quarterback room," Morgan praised Dalton's influence.
