Mecklenburg County Solid Waste and Park and Recreation have announced the reopening of the William R. Davie Staffed Recycling Center after enhancements to expand the site and introduce staffing.
The upgraded center, located within William R. Davie Park, now accepts curbside recycling items along with most enhanced recycling items. Staff members are available on-site to assist residents in proper recycling practices.
Accepted items include plastic bottles and jugs with necks, cardboard, aluminum and steel cans, milk and juice cartons, paper, glass bottles, rechargeable batteries, bicycles, hardback and softcover books, textiles, shredded paper, white rigid foam, and food scraps.
However, household waste such as scrap metal, stoves, refrigerators, freezers, tires, yard waste, bulk materials, and construction debris will not be accepted at this center. These items can only be disposed of at the county’s four larger full-service centers.
The William R. Davie Self Service Recycling Center is situated at 4635 Pineville-Matthews Road in Charlotte. It operates Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., except on Wednesdays when it is closed.
Additionally, Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation is gathering feedback from residents about proposed improvements to the dog park within William R. Davie Park. The survey will remain open until July 18.
