A new state program will provide up to $250,000 to eligible nonprofits and businesses that were impacted by COVID-19.
The Job Retention Grant Program, offered through the Department of Commerce, is accepting applications from businesses, North Carolina Department of Commerce said in an Aug. 13 press release. Gov. Roy Cooper said the program will help owners keep workers employed and paid.
Funds for the program come from $15 million in CARES Act funding.
The deadline to apply for a grant is Sept. 1, 2020, the department said in the release.
To be eligible for a grant, an applicant cannot have received aid from the federal Paycheck Protection Program or other recovery programs. The business must also keep 90% of its full-time workers and show a reduction in sales or receipts by at least 10% from March to May.
Grants are expected to be awarded by early October, the department said in the press release.
