Poyner Spruill recently issued the following announcement.

Poyner Spruill LLP is pleased to announce partners Christopher H. Roede and Eric P. Stevens both presented on Friday, October 9, at USLAW NETWORK’s first-ever virtual retreat.

As part of its 2020 conference, USLAW launched Short Takes, a series of 30-minute updates from USLAW attorneys providing perspectives on what 2021 and beyond may look like in a variety of business/legal areas, including cyber concerns, the future of mergers and acquisitions, the evolving cannabis market, and the long-term impacts COVID-19 might have on real estate.

During his presentation, Roede focused on what attorneys and clients should expect from banking, financial services, and lending law in 2021. He was joined on the panel by Trevor Bartel, partner at Lewis Roca Rothgerber Christie; and Eli Rosenberg, partner at Baird Holm.

Stevens, who is the lead of the firm’s Intellectual Property team, outlined expected changes to IP law in 2021 and discussed the impact of the ongoing pandemic on the timing of trademark and patent reviews. He was joined by Robert Theuerkauf, chair of Middleton-Reutlinger’s IP Litigation team.

The 10-day conference ran from Sept. 30-Oct. 9 and was designed for legal decision-makers. The retreat covers everything from upcoming legislation and emerging technologies to how COVID-19 has impacted the claims environment and how recent decisions are impacting overall policies and operations. Presentations are available on demand for all who register for the free event.

USLAW NETWORK is an international, invite-only organization of nearly 100 independent, defense-based law firms with more than 6,000 attorneys covering the United States, Canada, Latin America, Europe, Asia and Africa.
