Charlotte, N.C. - The City of Charlotte is inviting residents to participate in the preparation of the FY 2024 Annual Action Plan. The plan is the city's application to receive federal funds for various grants related to housing and community development. The plan is required by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to report on the status of needs and expected outcomes for the upcoming fiscal year.

In order to gather input from the community, the city will be hosting two public forums to discuss the Annual Action Plan. The first forum, open to the public, will be held on February 15, 2024, at 3 p.m. at the Old City Hall in the Wilmore Room on 600 East Trade St. This forum is specifically for the Consortium & Nonprofits. The second forum, held on February 20, 2024, at 5 p.m., will be a virtual meeting specifically for the Community Relations Committee.

The city is encouraging residents to attend these forums to learn more about how funds are being spent in their community and to offer suggestions for new programs or projects. The city believes that participation from residents is crucial in order to best serve the community.

Accommodations will be made available for people with disabilities upon request, as long as the request is made at least three days prior to the event. The city is committed to ensuring equal access for all residents.

It is important to note that the North Carolina Fair Housing Act prohibits discrimination in housing based on various factors, such as race, color, religion, sex, national origin, physical or mental handicaps, or family status. If anyone believes they have been a victim of discrimination, they are encouraged to contact the Charlotte Community Relations Committee.

For any further questions, to request a mailed document, or to inquire about special accommodations, residents can contact Starr Webb-Allen at 704.336.2683 or starr.webballen@charlottenc.gov.

The City of Charlotte is dedicated to transparency and community involvement in its Annual Action Plan. By engaging with residents, the city hopes to address the housing and community development needs in the most effective way possible.
