The 2024 MLS NEXT Cup Playoffs are approaching, with the Charlotte FC U-15 and U-17 teams aiming to conclude an impressive season. The tournament, featuring top teams from the U.S. and Canada in a single-elimination format, will be held from June 15-23 at Richard Siegel Soccer Complex in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.

Only 14 MLS clubs have representation in both "Pro-Pathway" age groups for this year's playoffs. Bryan Scales, Executive Director of Academy, commented on the achievement: "Their body of work over the course of the season was really good."

Scales views the playoffs as a significant challenge and opportunity. “It [MLS Next Playoffs] gives us a variety of teams to compete against on a big stage with pressure,” he said, “and lots of eyeballs on the players.”

The U-15 team is scheduled to play against LA Galaxy on June 15 at 7:45 PM, while the U-17 team will face Barca Residency Academy on June 16 at 5:15 PM.

The knockout format of the MLS NEXT Cup Playoffs increases stakes and pressure, providing essential experience for Academy players aspiring to compete at higher levels. Both Charlotte FC teams aim to finish strong and potentially secure a trophy.

Reflecting on the season's progress, Scales noted: "It's been an important season for us. We made a lot of progress this year. Qualifying for the playoffs is a testament to the hard work that the guys put in all season long and now they’ve earned a chance to compete for a championship.”
