The Panthers utilized the first day of camp without a full practice to make several roster adjustments, signing four players on Friday to address positional needs.

The team signed outside linebacker Kemoko Turay, tight end Feleipe Franks, cornerback Kiondre Thomas, and wide receiver Devin Carter. Turay, a former second-round pick of the Colts, has accumulated 12.0 sacks over parts of five seasons. The 29-year-old achieved a career-best 5.5 sacks for the Colts in 13 games in 2021 and has spent parts of the last two seasons with the 49ers and Falcons.

The Panthers have been evaluating multiple players at various positions recently due to a lack of depth. With D.J. Wonnum still on the active/physically unable to perform list, experienced options opposite Jadeveon Clowney are limited.

Franks, 26, was with the Falcons for the past three seasons. Initially a quarterback at Florida, he was also drafted by the Boston Red Sox before converting to tight end in 2022. The Panthers needed additional depth at this position as Tommy Tremble is dealing with a hamstring issue that kept him off the field Thursday.

Thomas, also 26, spent spring in the UFL and has been associated with the Browns, Chargers, and Packers.

Carter is a rookie who played at West Virginia and NC State.

To accommodate these new signings on their roster, the Panthers placed veteran wide receiver Cam Sims on the reserve/physically unable to perform list and waived safety Clayton Isbell, offensive tackle Christian Duffie, and wide receiver Sam Pinckney.

The team held two walk-throughs Friday in preparation for the Back Together Saturday practice at Bank of America Stadium.
