Derrick Brown, a key player for the Carolina Panthers, expressed his admiration for former team legends during the team's recent camp. Brown emphasized the importance of learning from past players like Brentson Buckner, Mike Rucker, Luke Kuechly, and Thomas Davis. The upcoming induction of Julius Peppers into the Pro Football Hall of Fame also adds to this sentiment.

"Just to be able to sit down and have a conversation with them, talk to them, I mean, that's what it's all about," Brown said. "Those guys have been here, done that. We're still in pursuit of trying to get there."

Brown is optimistic about the new season under head coach Dave Canales and defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero. He noted a noticeable change in the team's approach since OTAs began.

"I think it started on the first day we reported for OTAs," Brown stated. "The tone was set by coach and coach E for us."

The Panthers' training camp has focused heavily on physicality and preparation for the upcoming season. The team will have its first full-pads practice next Tuesday morning and another during Fan Fest at Clemson next Thursday.

Austin Corbett, who has faced two significant injuries in recent seasons, remains positive about his return and transition from guard to center.

"Everyone's like MCL being a significant injury; it's a very superficial surgery," Corbett explained. "We're going to go play ball."

The tight end unit has seen some changes due to Tommy Tremble's hamstring injury. Feleipe Franks was added to ensure depth at this physically demanding position.

"If we're going to get Tommy fully healthy, then we really had to shut him down," Canales said.

Wide receivers Terrace Marshall Jr., Jonathan Mingo, David Moore, Ihmir Smith-Marsette, and newcomer Deven Thompkins have shown promise during practice sessions.

"You see Mingo, Terrace Marshall really showing who they are," Canales commented.

Cornerback Jaycee Horn's workload was monitored after hitting top speeds during practice on Thursday. Rookie kicker Harrison Mevis made 3-of-5 field goals during Saturday's session.

Brown appreciates being able to spend time with his newborn daughter while balancing his professional responsibilities.

"So I'm getting a lot of daddy time right now," he said with a grin. "I appreciate that."
