The Panthers have bolstered their secondary depth following a series of injuries last week. On Monday, the team signed cornerbacks Chris Wilcox and Quandre Mosely after a workout session.
The need for additional corners arose when head coach Dave Canales announced that starter Dane Jackson would be sidelined for "six-weeks-ish" due to a hamstring injury. Subsequently, Lamar Jackson and Anthony Brown exited Saturday night's game against the Jets with injuries and did not return.
Wilcox, 26, is a former seventh-round pick by the Buccaneers from BYU. His career includes stints with the Colts, Cardinals, Steelers, and Chargers. Mosely, 25, played at Eastern Arizona and Kentucky and has been part of the Cowboys, Seahawks, Buccaneers, and Patriots rosters.
To accommodate these new additions to the roster, the Panthers placed Brown and quarterback Jake Luton on injured reserve while waiving-injured Lamar Jackson. They also waived-injured wide receiver Tayvion Robinson and running back Dillon Johnson.
Additionally, the team signed cornerback Willie Drew, wide receiver Sam Pinckney, and running back Jaden Shirden—players who had participated in camp earlier this summer.
