Bryce Young is set to start as quarterback for the Carolina Panthers against the Denver Broncos on Sunday. This decision follows an incident involving Andy Dalton, who was in a car accident resulting in a sprained thumb. Head coach Dave Canales expressed hope that Dalton could return as a backup.

Canales praised Young's handling of the situation, stating, "He approached it with such class and integrity." Young took first-team reps during Wednesday's practice after being informed of his new role on Tuesday night. Offensive guard Robert Hunt shared his excitement for Young's opportunity to compete again.

Young started the first two games of the season before being replaced by Dalton. He has since appeared in two other games in limited situations. Despite challenges, he has been learning from Dalton and preparing for this chance.

Andy Dalton commended their friendship and mutual support, saying, "I'm so thankful for our friendship and what we've been able to build." Jadeveon Clowney also offered encouragement to Young, advising him to "continue to believe in himself."

As Young prepares for Sunday's game, he maintains a consistent approach. "It's football," he said. "It's just doing everything I can to help the team win."

Coach Canales emphasized that while Sunday's game is an opportunity for Young, there are no guarantees beyond this week. Young remains focused on preparation: "You always have to prepare like you're going to play no matter where it is."
