Panthers running back Jonathon Brooks' rookie season has come to an early end after just three games. The announcement was made by Panthers head coach Dave Canales, who confirmed that Brooks tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee during Sunday's game against the Eagles. This injury will keep him sidelined for the remainder of the season.
Brooks had recently returned from a previous torn right ACL following the Panthers' bye week. In his brief return, he managed nine carries for 22 yards and caught three passes for 23 yards. He also started in the backfield alongside Chuba Hubbard for the first time, offering a glimpse of what could have been a promising offensive partnership.
The initial injury occurred while Brooks was playing at Texas on November 11, 2023. Before this setback, he had accumulated 1,139 yards and scored ten touchdowns in his final college season. The Panthers selected him in the second round of last year's draft with the 46th overall pick.
