The Panthers have bolstered their linebacker roster by signing Chandler Wooten from the 49ers practice squad. This move addresses a need for depth in the linebacker position.
Wooten, aged 25, initially joined the Panthers in 2022 after being signed off the Cardinals practice squad. He has participated in 20 games with the team, including three earlier this season. Known for his special teams capabilities, Wooten notably recovered a fumble against the Colts last year.
His recent stint with the 49ers practice squad lasted only a week before rejoining the Panthers. The team's decision was influenced by their limited number of healthy inside linebackers last week. Jon Rhattigan's role was restricted to special teams duties, leaving Josey Jewell to handle every defensive snap and rookie Jacoby Windmon to make his NFL starting debut.
