Dave Canales, head coach of the Carolina Panthers, expressed gratitude and reflection during his final press conference of the 2024 season. "Just grateful to just have these days, this last week, each of them," he stated. As the Panthers approach their last game against the Atlanta Falcons, Canales acknowledged the significance of these moments with his team.
Despite injuries, Canales is focused on ensuring players' well-being while preparing for Sunday's game. "We're just taking them day to day...they want to be able to finish together," he emphasized.
Running back Miles Sanders could return after being sidelined by a high ankle sprain in November. He returned to practice on Wednesday but remains cautious about playing this weekend. "It's not a full go that I'm going this week...I'm still taking it day by day," Sanders noted.
The Panthers have struggled with running back injuries, placing Chuba Hubbard on injured reserve alongside Jonathon Brooks. In Sanders' absence, other players filled in during recent games.
Sanders expressed excitement about returning and praised quarterback Bryce Young's recent performances. "I'm excited for the way Bryce has been looking...playing his game," said Sanders.
Canales hopes for Sanders' return but remains cautious. "We'll have a full practice tomorrow...make sure it's the right thing for him," he explained.
Bryce Young reflected on his rookie season and offered insights into fellow rookie Michael Penix Jr.'s experience as a starting quarterback. Despite being younger than Penix, Young shared advice from his own journey: "Just remember that everything is a process."
Young has crossed paths with Penix before and supports him despite their upcoming competition on Sunday. "I'm super excited for him and his future...a good dude; I'm definitely rooting for him," said Young.
