The Carolina Panthers are considering the return of running back Miles Sanders for their upcoming game. Sanders, who has been sidelined due to a high ankle sprain sustained in Germany against the Giants, participated fully in practice sessions on Wednesday and Friday. Despite this progress, his status remains questionable.
Panthers head coach Dave Canales expressed optimism about Sanders' condition following recent practices. "He looked good," Canales commented on Friday regarding Sanders' performance during the week. "He handled the workload yesterday, and we were smart about it, but he pushed it, and he went through some individual (Friday), you know, ran around and cut, and so feels pretty good."
However, Canales emphasized that a final decision would be made closer to game time. "But again, he's got to go through the day. He's got to see how he wakes up tomorrow, you know, and just with another day of work and we'll take it all the way; it'll be a game-day decision for Miles."
In case Sanders is unable to play, Raheem Blackshear and Mike Boone are available as alternatives in the backfield.
In other team news, outside linebacker DJ Johnson was placed on the reserve/non-football injury list after being involved in a car accident on Thursday. As a result, Johnson will not participate in Sunday's game.
