Mecklenburg County and its incorporated communities are in the process of updating the Mecklenburg County Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan. They are inviting public input on changes related to risks, vulnerabilities, and mitigation opportunities.
A virtual public meeting is scheduled for Thursday, January 9 at 5 p.m. The meeting will cover the plan update process, review identified hazards, and gather feedback from participants. Interested individuals can register online to attend.
Public participation is emphasized as crucial to the planning process. Those unable to attend the meeting can still contribute by completing a brief survey regarding hazard risks and mitigation options.
The plan update is necessary for all communities to remain eligible for FEMA's pre- and post-disaster mitigation funding. This initiative aims to help communities understand their vulnerabilities and develop strategies to reduce risk proactively.
