The City of Charlotte is currently accepting nominations for the 45th annual Police-Community Relations Awards. These awards are designed to recognize officers and work teams from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department who have successfully established positive, problem-solving relationships with individual residents and neighborhood groups. The awards ceremony is organized by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Community Relations as part of National Police Week.

“The annual Police-Community Relations Awards are a profound and vital way of acknowledging that our officers are important to the Charlotte community,” stated Mayor Vi Lyles. “It’s beautiful when residents are able to share their experiences with officers and recognize the meaningful work they do.”

Nominations can be submitted either online or via mail. For mailed nominations, submissions should be sent to:

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Community Relations Committee

Belmont Regional Center

700 Parkwood Ave.

Charlotte, NC 28205

Mailed nominations must include the name, phone number, and email address of the person making the nomination; the names of the officer or officers being nominated; the district where these officers work; and characteristics that qualify them for an award.

The deadline for submission for consideration in the 2025 awards is Monday, March 31. A group comprising members of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Community Relations Committee will review all nominations. Officers selected will be honored at an awards ceremony on May 15.

Past honoree Captain Stephen Iyevbele has shared insights into what these awards mean both to officers and to the community.

Details about winners from last year's 44th annual awards ceremony in 2024 can be found on the city’s website.
