The 2021 Panthers draft class, which arrived in Charlotte nearly four years ago, is now facing an uncertain future as their rookie contracts come to an end. The class was led by cornerback Jaycee Horn and included notable players like tight end Tommy Tremble and offensive lineman Brady Christensen.

"Like Brady Christensen said, we thought this was going to be best friends forever, man," remarked Tremble. However, the realities of the NFL have brought them to a point where they must consider their next career steps.

"It's hard to keep staying in this business," Tremble added. "It's a tough business, but the guys who are still here, man, I know everyone's got success for them waiting in the future."

As the Carolina Panthers wrapped up their season and prepared for the offseason, only four members of the original 11-player draft class remained on the roster: Tremble, Christensen, running back Chuba Hubbard, and Horn.

Hubbard's future seems more secure after signing a four-year extension following his first 1,000-yard season. Meanwhile, Horn had his fifth-year option picked up by the Panthers in April 2024. Both parties aim to negotiate a long-term extension this offseason.

"I'm just leaving that all up to my agent; I feel like he's the best in the world at what he does," Horn stated. He played in 15 games this season and earned his first Pro Bowl selection with impressive statistics.

General manager Dan Morgan expressed confidence in retaining Horn long-term: "Somebody that we're going to want here long-term."

Christensen demonstrated versatility by playing multiple positions on the offensive line but faces uncertainty due to existing starters under contract. "I can hold my head high," he said about his performance this year.

Tremble finished his fourth season with career-best numbers despite injuries. He became a reliable target for quarterback Bryce Young and expressed a desire to stay with Carolina: "I'd love to be here."

The three remaining draftees from 2021 look forward to seeing what opportunities arise during the offseason while reflecting positively on their contributions so far.

"I'm excited for everyone here," Tremble concluded. "Love those guys to death... It's going to be a fun offseason."
