The City of Charlotte's Solid Waste Services will not be collecting garbage, recycling, yard waste, and scheduled bulky waste on Monday, January 20, in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.

Following the holiday, Solid Waste Services will operate on a one-day delay. Collections originally scheduled for Monday will take place on Tuesday, January 21. Those with Tuesday collections will have their waste picked up on Wednesday, January 22. Similarly, Wednesday collections are moved to Thursday, January 23; Thursday collections to Friday, January 24; and Friday collections to Saturday, January 25. This week is designated as a green recycling collection week.

The collection of natural Christmas trees started on January 1. Residents should place their trees at the curb for yard waste collection after removing all decorations such as lights, ornaments, tinsel, and tree stands. Artificial trees and wreaths need to be scheduled for bulky item collection by contacting 311 or visiting curbit.charlottenc.gov or using the CLT+ app.

Solid Waste Services provides text updates about service impacts. Residents can receive these updates by texting their day of service to 73224. For example, if a resident's collection day is Thursday, they would text "Thursday" to 73224.

Residents can determine their collection day by visiting the GeoPortal and entering their address to confirm their service day and whether it is an orange or green recycling week.

For further details, residents are encouraged to visit curbit.charlottenc.gov.
