Omarion Hampton, a prominent name in North Carolina football circles, is gearing up for a new chapter following a successful collegiate career. A former Gatorade North Carolina Football Player of the Year, Hampton first gained recognition at Cleveland High School in Clayton before committing to the University of North Carolina (UNC) Tar Heels.

During his time at UNC, Hampton maintained his impressive performance, securing first-team All-American honors in both 2023 and 2024. Reflecting on his journey at the NFL Combine, Hampton told NFL Network, "I feel like my transition was good, just coming right in. Had a pretty decent sophomore year, pretty decent junior year…I'm just excited for the next transition really."

Hampton's achievements on the field are notable. He recorded consecutive seasons with over 1,500 rushing yards, ranking in the top five nationally for both his sophomore and junior years. His average of 138.33 yards per game in 2024 trailed only Heisman finalist Ashton Jeanty, and he finished third in the FBS for all-purpose yards with 2,033.

The player is confident in his abilities, describing himself as a "three-down back" capable of running, receiving, and blocking. The emphasis on versatility was highlighted during his pro day in Chapel Hill, where he aimed to demonstrate his agility and receiving skills: "I showed them just how quick I am, how fast I can move," Hampton stated. "So I feel like also showed them a little bit of catch. I can catch out the backfield."

Hampton’s focus is on contributing to a team willing to bank on his diverse skill set. “Just trying to go in, just do everything I can do to help them win the Super Bowl," he said. Emphasizing the importance of support, he noted the value of "having a running back coach who's there for me."

As Omarion Hampton stands on the brink of a professional football career, he remains focused on continuous improvement: "Just, still got to keep working, stacking days, take it day-by-day, keep going out here, keep getting better, then eventually it'll take care of itself."
