issued the following announcement on Jul. 23.
On center field of The Charlotte Independence Soccer Club’s new home turf, representatives from Novant Health joined Independence players on Wednesday to announce the renewal of a four-year strategic partnership. In addition to being the presenting sponsor of specified club teams, tournaments and events, Novant Health athletic trainers will continue to provide health care services to athletes, staff and community members throughout each professional and youth club season.
“We’re thrilled to continue to build upon the strong community partnership that we’ve established with the Charlotte Independence,” said Jesse Cureton, executive vice president and chief consumer officer for Novant Health. “As an organization, the Charlotte Independence are committed to developing leaders on and off the field, and we’re proud to work with them to promote health and wellness within the communities we serve.”
From the sideline to the clinic, Novant Health’s sports medicine and rehabilitation program offers a wide range of services, including sports performance training, outpatient physical therapy, sports nutrition and sports psychology services. The sports medicine team is well-equipped to assist athletes with the prevention, examination, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of emergent, acute or chronic injuries and medical conditions to stay in the game. In addition to staffing athletic trainers and team physicians, Novant Health will sponsor a variety of community initiatives, including the Charlotte Independence Free Community Clinics as part of the team’s ongoing “One Club, One Love” campaign. The long-term partnership will continue to raise awareness for the organization’s foundations: Novant Health Children’s Trust and Novant Health Hemby Children’s Hospital.
“The Charlotte Independence are a fantastic community partner,” said Dr. Bryan Edwards, senior vice president of the Novant Health Orthopedic & Sports Medicine Institute. “We share a common commitment to train young athletes the right way, and we’re proud to work alongside the soccer club to provide care when they need us.”
“Novant Health has been such an amazing partner since our inception,” stated Charlotte Independence president and chief operating officer, Tim Schuldt. “We appreciate the trust they’ve placed in us to deliver on their objectives and for the world-class health care they provide our players, staff and families.”
Novant Health will be the primary kit sponsor for all youth competitive teams, the USL2 team and the USL Championship team. They will also be the presenting sponsor of five expansive youth tournaments each year, as well as the presenting sponsor of two first team matches. Throughout the term, Charlotte Independence and the Independence Soccer Club will prominently display branded logos and messaging for Novant Health through digital, print, mobile and social channels. Novant Health has been a sponsor with the Jacks since their inaugural season in 2015.
“The partnership with Novant Health is so important to our club as we continue to build exceptional players and incredible leaders of the future,” stated Thomas Finley, CEO of the Independence Soccer Club. “Novant Health aligns perfectly with our core values, and we look forward to impacting our community with them for the next four years.”
The Independence’s 2021 campaign is the Jacks’ first season at the brand-new American Legion Memorial Stadium following the $40 million entire rebuild of the historic venue, which was completed this past spring.
Located in uptown Charlotte, the new venue’s capacity of 10,500 includes standing area, and the type of amenities that have become standard at new venues across the Championship in recent years. Among them, a first for the Independence, is a full video scoreboard and views of the surrounding city skyline that make for a memorable experience on game nights and at other events.
