Nominations for the 2025 Crowns of Enterprise Awards are now open, as announced by Mecklenburg County and the City of Charlotte. The awards aim to recognize small businesses in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg area that exhibit strong leadership and effective business strategies. These awards highlight companies that contribute to local economic growth and embrace diversity and inclusion.

Community members can submit nominations until January 17, 2025, for various categories including Certified Minority Business Enterprise of the Year, Certified Woman Business Enterprise of the Year, Certified Small Business Enterprise of the Year, Prime Contractor of the Year, Diversity Advocate of the Year, and Media Personality/Media Outlet of the Year. Self-nominations are also accepted. Some categories require certification from either the North Carolina Office for Historically Underutilized Businesses or the City of Charlotte.

The winners will be revealed at a ceremony in May 2025. Award recipients will have opportunities to network with business leaders, officials, and government agencies through this program.

Further details about supporting small businesses can be found on Mecklenburg County’s Business Diversity and Inclusion website as well as Charlotte Business INClusion's site.
