In Charlotte, North Carolina, a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held to mark the completion of Evoke Living at Eastland Yards. This development is the first phase of the Eastland Yards redevelopment project, undertaken in partnership with Crosland Southeast.
"Evoke Living at Eastland Yards is more than just a housing development; it’s a symbol of Eastland’s bright future and our efforts to enhance East Charlotte," stated District 5 Council Member Marjorie Molina. She emphasized the project's role in creating an inclusive and accessible community, marking it as a significant step forward for the area.
The development is situated in the Albemarle Road Corridor of Opportunity and includes both market-rate and affordable apartments. It aims to provide quality housing options for residents earning between 30% to 80% of the Area Medium Income (AMI). Additionally, 20% of these units are designated for households with incomes at or below 60% of AMI.
Tim Sittema, managing partner of Crosland Southeast, described Evoke Living as "a huge milestone" for the broader redevelopment initiative. He highlighted that it offers market-rate quality amenities at affordable rents across various income levels. Sittema reiterated their commitment to equitable redevelopment through this project.
This completion marks an important milestone within the larger vision for Eastland Yards—a multi-phase effort aimed at revitalizing the former Eastland Mall area. The project has received a $97 million investment from the city alongside contributions from Mecklenburg County. The comprehensive plan includes residential, commercial, and community spaces designed to foster a vibrant neighborhood hub.
Residents are set to move into Evoke Living on November 21st. Further details about leasing can be found on their website.
