Residents in Mecklenburg County are encouraged to participate in The Big Spring Clean event on Saturday, March 29. Organized by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Storm Water Services, the initiative aims to engage the community in cleaning up litter from creeks and creek banks at seven locations around Charlotte-Mecklenburg.

The clean-up will take place from 9 a.m. to noon and is open to individuals of all ages and abilities. Participants will be provided with gloves, trash bags, water, and snacks. Last year’s event saw volunteers collect 9,000 pounds of trash, highlighting the impact of community involvement in maintaining local waterways.

Those interested in joining can register online by visiting StormWater.CharMeck.org and selecting the Creek Week banner.

For media inquiries or further information about The Big Spring Clean, staff will be available for questions on March 29 at 9 a.m. at 1100 Chancellor Park Dr., Charlotte. RSVPs can be made by contacting environmental specialist Taylor Mebane at 980-402-4206.

Media Contact: Betsy Abraham, Mecklenburg County Public Information Officer, can be reached at 704-249-9779 or via email at Betsy.Abraham@mecklenburgcountync.gov.
