Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department issued the following announcement on Feb. 19.
Do you own a car? Then you have a catalytic converter and thefts of catalytic converters are on the rise. The CMPD is continuing its efforts to protect your vehicle from catalytic converter theft!
On Saturday, February 25, the CMPD is hosting a ‘Catalytic Converter Anti-Theft Etching Event from 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. at AAA – Pineville at 10403 Park Rd, Charlotte.
CMPD is partnering with AAA Carolinas – The Auto Club Group and the National Insurance Crime Bureau to host this FREE etching event.
What is etching and why is it important? Etching, or engraving a catalytic converter with unique numbers helps deter thefts. To participate in this FREE event, you must make an appointment using the QR code on the flyer.
