Manolo Betancur and his award-winning bakery at 4405 Central Avenue is as well-known in Charlotte as it is tasty, but we couldn’t resist giving another shoutout to this delicious family-run shop. The bakery opens at 6 a.m. every day, so go early and grab a fresh pastry and Colombian coffee for breakfast. Visit Manolo's Bakery online.

“What a wonderful way to start the day—a friendly greeting from the owner, the staff helped us pick out treats; everything was delicious! I wish I had a photo, but everything was gobbled up!” - Susie H.

Eat – Lunch

Taqueria Number 1

Fast, affordable, delicious—Taqueria Number 1 is the perfect lunch spot. Grab authentic Mexican food at 3619 E Independence Boulevard from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. The tacos are a must, but don’t miss out on traditional classics like huaraches, pambazos, sopes, and more. Visit Taqueria Number 1 online.

“The food was SO good. It made me sentimental because it reminded me so much of easting in Mexico! The flavorful salsa and fresh tortillas made everything that much better. Everything is also fairly prices for the portions and quality of food you receive. We can’t wait to eventually try the whole menu. 10 Stars!” - Brittany C.

  • Annual LAC Memberships
  • Immigrant Welcome Center
  • Immigration Legal Center
  • Economic & Workforce Center
  • Center for Education & Opportunities for Youth

The Coalition is also hosting the 33rd Annual Latin American Festival on Sept. 23 in Ballantyne. Stop by 4938 Central Avenue (Suite 101) to learn more about how you can support as a volunteer or join the organization as a member. Visit the Latin American Coalition online.
