Charlotte, N.C. - Solid Waste Services in Charlotte has released the collection schedule for the upcoming Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday. According to the announcement made on January 8, 2024, there will be a one-day delay in service following the holiday. Customers who are scheduled for collection on Friday will instead receive service on Saturday, January 20.
In addition to the schedule change, it is important to note that the week following the holiday will be an orange recycling collection week. This means that residents should ensure their recycling bins are properly sorted and ready for collection.
For those who still have their natural Christmas trees, the collection process began on January 1. To have your tree collected, it should be placed at the curb for yard waste collection. It is crucial that all decorations, including lights, ornaments, tinsel, and tree stands, are removed from the tree before disposal. Artificial trees and wreaths should be scheduled for bulky item collection. To schedule bulky item pickups, residents can call 311 or 704.336.7600, visit curbit.charlottenc.gov, or use the CLT+ app.
Residents who would like to stay informed about any impacts to their collection service can sign up for collection updates via text. By texting their designated day of service to 73224, they will receive regular updates and notifications. For example, if your collection day is Thursday, you would simply text "Thursday" to 73224.
