The innovative application offers residents a user-friendly way to access up-to-date urban tree canopy cover data, with customizable filters catering to factors such as land cover type and planting area classification.
Alyson Craig, the city’s planning director, emphasized the significance of this tool, stating, "This application highlights our commitment to keeping our community informed and engaged in nurturing and preserving our vibrant tree canopy.”
At the core of CANOPY is an interactive web map viewer that enables residents to easily delve into urban tree canopy data. Users can explore canopy data, strategize and prioritize planting criteria, and utilize the grow tool to forecast future benefits and achieve set goals.
