Charlotte residents are gearing up for the third annual Clean the Queen event, set to take place during Earth Week from April 15 to April 20. The initiative, organized by Envision Charlotte, Keep Charlotte Beautiful, and City of Charlotte Solid Waste Services, aims to bring volunteers together to improve the environment of the Queen City.

According to the organizers, spots for the volunteer events are filling up quickly. Those interested in participating are encouraged to check the Envision Charlotte Google Calendar for available slots and sign up promptly. Each day of the event will consist of two shifts, accommodating 10 volunteers each.

Participants will convene at the Innovation Barn at the beginning of their shift, where they will receive instructions, maps, and necessary gear. Parking is available on-site, with carpooling being recommended. Throughout the week, volunteers can also enjoy refreshments at Change Please Coffee.

In addition to the cleanup efforts, participants will have the chance to engage in friendly competitions, including contests for the most volunteers from one company, the most litter picked up by one company, and the most sound panels made by one company. These activities will culminate in a celebration on Saturday, April 20, where prize drawings and contest winners will be announced.

Keep Charlotte Beautiful, a key partner in the event, recently celebrated its 50th anniversary and continues to work towards educating and inspiring the community to enhance the city's beauty.

In the words of the organizers, "Let’s clean the Queen City together!"
