The Charlotte Hornets selected forward Tidjane Salaün from Cholet Basket, France, with the sixth overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. A native of Paris, Salaün averaged 9.7 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 1.1 steals in 54 games (40 starts) this season across all competitions with Cholet Basket of the LNB Elite league, France’s top division.

Salaün played the previous two campaigns for Espoirs Cholet of France’s U21 league, recording averages of 11.5 points (50.7 FG%, 35.9 3P%), 5.0 rebounds, 1.2 assists, and 1.0 steals in 63 outings (42 starts). The 6-9 forward was named the Basketball Champions League Best Young Player for the 2023-24 season and earned MVP honors at the Trophy of the Future tournament in 2023.

His experience includes participating in the Basketball Without Borders camp during All-Star weekend in Indianapolis and representing France at the FIBA U18 European Championship in 2023.

Salaün's sister, Janelle, also plays professional basketball in France.
