CHARLOTTE — The Panthers have released veteran pass rusher K'Lavon Chaisson, the team announced on Tuesday. Chaisson had joined the Panthers this past spring as a free agent.
Chaisson is a former first-round draft pick by the Jaguars in 2020. The LSU alum was unable to find solid footing in Jacksonville, finishing his four years there with 73 tackles, five sacks, and two passes defended.
He was expected to provide a pass rush alongside Jadeveon Clowney in Charlotte. Chaisson started two games during the preseason, playing 29 total snaps on defense and tallying one tackle for a loss. He did not play in the second preseason game versus the Jets.
Chaisson's release leaves the outside linebacker unit with Clowney, DJ Johnson, Eku Leota, and recent waiver acquisition Jamie Sheriff.
