Ja'Tavion Sanders played a pivotal role in the Carolina Panthers' narrow 23-22 victory over the New Orleans Saints on Sunday. His performance was highlighted by a remarkable 46-yard play that changed the momentum of the game.

Sanders, reflecting on his hurdle and run, stated, "I kind of had it in my mind the whole time I was running the ball, and I just, I just was praying he didn't flip me." This play came at a crucial moment when the Panthers were trailing 13-10 early in the second half.

Quarterback Bryce Young connected with Sanders on a pass at the line of scrimmage. Sanders then capitalized on a block from Xavier Legette to evade defenders and advance downfield. Facing Tyrann Mathieu, Sanders assessed their size difference and took a leap. "I know Tyrann wasn't fixing to hit me up top," Sanders noted about his decision-making process.

Earlier in the game, Sanders had demonstrated his ability by winning a contested catch for 15 yards. This built trust between him and Young, leading to further opportunities like the successful screen pass in the third quarter.

Coach Dave Canales commended Sanders' efforts: "It was just a great effort play... He kept it high and tight, and that's what we're asking him to do."

Sanders also played a strategic role later in the game when he drew a defensive pass interference call against Demario Davis. This penalty advanced the Panthers into scoring position, leading to Chuba Hubbard's go-ahead touchdown.

Reflecting on this key moment, Sanders explained how he anticipated drawing the penalty: "Just knowing that you can't guard somebody like this... So it was just making a smart play."

The rookie tight end concluded with four receptions for 87 yards and contributed significantly to securing penalties that aided their victory. Coach Canales praised his performance as "a great step forward for him."

After reviewing footage of his impressive jump post-game, Sanders remarked humorously about his abilities: "I guess I do get little bunnies or something." His willingness to take risks exemplifies what the Panthers are building towards as they aim for continued success.
