CHARLOTTE — Tight ends Tommy Tremble (hamstring/back) and Ian Thomas (calf) were held out of Wednesday's practice as the team prepares for Sunday's opener against the Saints.

The Panthers signed tight end Messiah Swinson off the Packers practice squad on Wednesday, providing another option along with Ja'Tavion Sanders and Jordan Matthews. The 6-foot-7, 259-pound Swinson, an undrafted rookie from Arizona State, adds a bigger blocking body.

The only other players listed on the injury report submitted to the league were backup tackle Yosh Nijman (tibia) and running back Miles Sanders (finger), who were limited participants in Wednesday's practice.
