The Carolina Panthers have re-signed outside linebacker Marquis Haynes Sr. to their practice squad, reinforcing their pass-rush capabilities with a familiar face. Haynes, who was originally drafted by the Panthers in the fourth round of the 2018 NFL Draft, had a brief stint with the Arizona Cardinals during training camp this summer.

During his first six seasons with the Panthers, Haynes accumulated 14 sacks over 71 games. His standout year came in 2022 when he recorded five sacks and scored a touchdown from a fumble recovery. Last season, however, he was limited to just seven games due to back issues.

At 30 years old, Haynes is expected to provide veteran experience alongside fellow players Jadeveon Clowney and Charles Harris as they mentor younger talents like DJ Johnson.

In order to accommodate Haynes on the practice squad, the team released cornerback Justin Hardee.
