Ahead of World War II, Miguel Canales made the journey from Mexico to California with aspirations of achieving the American Dream for his family. He served alongside General George Patton's troops and returned to Southern California after the war. There, he established Mission of Ebenezer, a bilingual church in Carson, California.

Fast forward to 2024, and his grandson Dave Canales has become the head coach of the Carolina Panthers. This makes him only the fifth Latino head coach in NFL history and currently the sole Latino holding such a position in the league.

As part of Latino Heritage Month celebrations, Dave Canales and his family are reflecting on their Mexican American heritage. They emphasize how it has influenced their lives from Carson to Charlotte.
