The Carolina Panthers experienced a change at quarterback during their recent game against the Chicago Bears, but head coach Dave Canales confirmed it was temporary. Bryce Young took over in the fourth quarter of the 36-10 loss, yet Andy Dalton will continue as the starter for the upcoming game against the Atlanta Falcons.

Young's entry came after injuries to center Austin Corbett and right tackle Taylor Moton. "I just saw it as an opportunity there," said Canales about Young's involvement. He praised Young for his energy and ability to extend plays despite difficult circumstances.

Dalton had a challenging performance, completing 18-of-28 passes for 136 yards with one interception, resulting in a passer rating of 61.0. This was notably different from his previous games where he averaged 270 yards per game with five touchdowns and one interception.

The Panthers struggled on third downs, failing all six attempts in the first half while also committing three turnovers. "We did not play complementary football today," stated Canales, acknowledging how turnovers exacerbated their struggles.

Dalton admitted difficulties arose even before key players left due to injury. "Early on in the game, we weren't taking our shots down the field," he noted, explaining that they were unable to establish rhythm and convert third downs effectively.

Despite limited playing time when victory was out of reach, Young completed four of seven passes for 58 yards and made a notable 27-yard pass to Miles Sanders. "Obviously, the situation being what it is, coach always talks about the finish," Young remarked regarding his mindset entering late into the game.

While avoiding speculation about future roles, Young emphasized focusing on controllable aspects of his situation after being benched two games into his second season following last year's first overall selection. He described leaning on faith and teammates during this period: "I love these guys; I love this group."

Young expressed commitment towards supporting team success from any position: "Of course it's a different perspective... But at end day I love this team." His dedication remains strong despite changes within personal role dynamics throughout recent weeks leading up until now as well such experiences running scout teams again reminiscent freshman year
