Panthers center Austin Corbett will miss the rest of the season due to a ruptured biceps tendon. Head coach Dave Canales confirmed the injury after Sunday's game against the Bears. Corbett, who had become a key part of the Panthers' offensive line, was injured while trying to push a pile during a play involving Jonathan Mingo.
After the game, Corbett mentioned he "felt the pop" in his left arm and anticipated it would be a biceps injury. This mirrors an injury from last year when Brady Christensen was sidelined after the opener with a similar issue. Christensen took over for Corbett on Sunday and is expected to stay in that role.
Corbett has faced several injuries over recent seasons. In 2022, he suffered a torn ACL and later an MCL injury in the same knee last season. Despite these setbacks, he has maintained his humor about his circumstances.
The Panthers are also monitoring right tackle Taylor Moton, who sustained a triceps injury and is considered "week-to-week." Canales does not expect Moton to play this week. Before his injury, Moton had started 104 consecutive games and appeared in 120 straight.
Yosh Nijman stepped in for Moton during Sunday's game. Acquired from Green Bay as a free agent, Nijman brings experience alongside Christensen, with both having made 46 career starts collectively.
