Tuesday marked a significant moment for Daniel High School as two of its former football players reunited in Charlotte. The Carolina Panthers have promoted defensive end DeShawn Williams to their active roster from the practice squad. Additionally, they signed outside linebacker Shaq Lawson to the practice squad. Both athletes previously played together at Daniel High before advancing to Clemson.

Williams had been elevated for two games earlier this season and participated in 16 games for the Panthers last year. Meanwhile, Lawson returns after spending two seasons with the Buffalo Bills, his second tenure with the team that initially drafted him in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft. Over his career, he has also played for the Miami Dolphins, Houston Texans, and New York Jets.

At 30 years old, Lawson brings experience with 26 career sacks to a position group recently impacted by Jadeveon Clowney's shoulder injury last week.

The connection between Williams and Daniel High was highlighted last season when he attended training camp there during a unified practice session with the Panthers.
