The Carolina Panthers have begun preparations for their upcoming game against the Falcons, starting with what they term "Work Wednesday." This weekly practice session is a time for the team to regroup and focus, regardless of previous outcomes. Head Coach Dave Canales adjusted the practice schedule this week, leading to a lighter tone on Wednesday, yet maintaining the emphasis on effort and teamwork.

Adam Thielen and Taylor Moton, both sidelined due to injuries, contributed by offering guidance during drills and from the sidelines. Despite sitting at 1-4 with several players injured, Canales emphasized the importance of continued effort and support within the team. "For me as the head coach to know that a group is playing with everything they have," Canales stated. He highlighted that while not every play is executed perfectly, the team's dedication is evident.

Veteran quarterbacks Andy Dalton and Kirk Cousins share a long-standing friendship dating back to their college days as camp roommates. They have since faced each other multiple times in their professional careers. Dalton reminisced about his experiences playing against Cousins: "The first time I played him was in London and we tied."

Canales also shared his positive experiences working with Cousins during past Pro Bowls. He noted Cousins' conscientious nature and ability to connect with people: "I can't say enough good things about him," Canales remarked.

On the injury front, cornerback Dane Jackson and tight end Ian Thomas participated fully in practice this Wednesday after being limited last week. The Panthers are hopeful for their return soon but will evaluate based on upcoming practices.

Additionally, offensive lineman Cade Mays has rejoined the Panthers after spending some time with the New York Giants' practice squad. His familiarity with Carolina's system makes him a valuable addition given current roster challenges due to injuries.

The Panthers also added outside linebacker Shaq Lawson to their practice squad for veteran experience in pass rushing roles.

Despite changes in personnel on the offensive line this week—Brady Christensen moving to center and Yosh Nijman stepping in at right tackle—Andy Dalton expects continuity in performance: "We don't expect anything to change with our group up front."
