LISC Charlotte has introduced the Real Estate Developer Incubator (REDi) training program to promote wealth creation among emerging commercial developers in Charlotte. This initiative aims to support the city's "Corridors of Opportunity," six designated areas targeted for community and business growth.

Ralphine Caldwell, Executive Director of LISC Charlotte, stated, “We have worked closely with the City of Charlotte over the course of a few years to bring this effective emerging developers program to the Charlotte market.” The program is being launched in partnership with the City of Charlotte and Wells Fargo, which provided $300,000 in grant funding. It is offered at no cost to aspiring developers.

Erin Gillespie, Interim Executive Manager for Corridors of Opportunity, remarked, "Today marks an exciting milestone as we launch this initiative aimed at empowering our residents to grow and develop their businesses right in their own neighborhoods."

The REDi program will offer technical assistance, coaching, and resources through a cohort-based curriculum. This will help developers reduce market entry barriers and expand their business capabilities. Jay Everette from Wells Fargo emphasized the importance of creating an inclusive economy by encouraging wealth creation through small businesses.

An informational webinar about REDi will be held on November 8 for interested participants. Applications are open until November 21, with the first cohort beginning in January 2025.
