The Charlotte Hornets ended their eight-game losing streak with a narrow 113-109 victory over the Indiana Pacers in Indianapolis on Sunday. This win also marked the end of an eight-game road skid for the team.
Brandon Miller played a pivotal role, scoring 26 points and contributing six rebounds and five assists. Vasilije Micić added 18 points and nine assists. TJ McConnell led Indiana with a career-high 30 points off the bench, while Pascal Siakam, Bennedict Mathurin, and Tyrese Haliburton combined for just 29 points.
A strong second quarter saw Charlotte shooting at 68.4%, helping them secure a slim halftime lead. In the fourth quarter, Miller was instrumental in maintaining their advantage despite pressure from McConnell's consistent scoring for Indiana.
Hornets Head Coach Charles Lee successfully challenged two crucial calls late in the game, which proved decisive in securing the win. Despite playing without key players like Mark Williams due to injury management, Charlotte dominated rebounding and second-chance points.
Turnovers were a concern for the Hornets as they committed 25 turnovers leading to 29 Indiana points. However, they managed to hold on for the victory.
Coach Lee reflected on breaking the losing streak: “It’s funny. We are so obsessed with the daily improvement and the process that we go through every day, that it didn’t feel like it was an eight-game losing streak for some reason."
Looking ahead, Charlotte will have four days off before facing the Chicago Bulls on Friday, Dec. 13.
