Charlotte FC has announced the acquisition of midfielder Eryk Williamson from the Portland Timbers. The deal involves an exchange for $100,000 in 2025 General Allocation Money (GAM), with a potential increase to $350,000 if specific incentives are achieved.
The Portland Timbers will retain a sell-on percentage should Williamson be transferred outside Major League Soccer (MLS). During his tenure with the Timbers, Williamson played in 100 MLS matches, including playoffs, and contributed to the team's victory in the 2020 MLS is Back Tournament. He scored six goals and provided 20 assists during his time with the team.
"Eryk is a player who our front office and coaches know very well and brings proven MLS production to our midfield," said General Manager Zoran Krneta. "He is a versatile player who is creative and dynamic on the ball which combined with his knowledge of the league makes him an excellent fit for our team. He’s won titles at both the club and national team level, and we’re excited to welcome him to Charlotte."
Williamson, a former Maryland Terrapin, has also earned six caps with the United States Men's National Team. He started in the final of the 2021 Concacaf Gold Cup where the USMNT defeated Mexico 1-0.
The transaction sees Charlotte FC acquiring Williamson from Portland Timbers for $100,000 in GAM for 2025, with additional incentives potentially raising this figure by another $250,000.
